Every year we gift our top customers with a bottle of Top Dog – a vintage made just for them, a bit like our specialty printing jobs. Of course, we like to do something special for the packaging. It is our thing, after all. Like with this collaboration with the CSIRO.

Top Dog is the story of a keen rivalry between two brothers who share a passion for red wine and a thirst for competition. It’s the story of Andrew and Stuart Eason, owners of Norwood Industries.

It all started when the brothers decided to share their love of wine with their customers by offering them a bottle of their favourite vintage each year. They called it Top Dog.

And so the tradition of Top Dog began. The pair take it in turns to select the Top Dog wine each year which is usually sourced from Marananga, a sub region of the Barossa. The wines are always big and full of fruit and sampled whilst maturing in their oak barrels.

The brother who selects the wine is also responsible for the label artwork that is based on an unfortunate experience of the other brother. The Top Dog label is represented by two mascots, a Big Dog (Andrew) and a Little Dog (Stuart). As to who is the Top Dog, that is left for you to decide.

It didn’t take long before Top Dog evolved into something much bigger than a bottle of wine. To celebrate the 6 year anniversary, Norwood in conjunction with the CSIRO created this state of the art light up wine pack.

True to our style, it was in-built with all the bells and whistles. Made using flexible electronics and radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, the pack represents the future of print technology. Look out for innovations using this kind of technology in dynamic packaging and advertising.
